Luton First Teaching School Alliance

We are a successful cross phase alliance, working in partnership with schools across Luton and Dunstable. We have strong links with the Luton local education authority, the local learning trusts of Shared, Chiltern and Pioneer. We also work closely with the Bell Foundation, who support learners that do not have English as their first language.

As our name suggests (Luton First), we are passionate about the well-being and achievement of young people in and around Luton. We are rightly proud of our record in supporting schools through the delivery of high quality, nationally recognised, professional development.

This is the last year of the Teaching School agenda as we know it; by next September so called 'super hubs' will be in place to carry on the excellent work established by the current teaching schools and their alliance partners. These hubs have yet to be identified but the application process begins this month and we will know who is to become our regional super hub by Christmas. I would like to reassure colleagues that Luton First will be at the heart of any reorganisation.

In the meantime we have changed our approach to our CPD offer this year. We have developed an exciting and wide ranging portfolio of twilight sessions which a number of alliance schools have already bought into. These sessions will be open to other schools but places are guaranteed to those alliance members who have paid 'up front'. If you would like to have more information about this please contact Tracey Murphy, .

We continue to work in partnership with the Bell Foundation who are specialists in English as a second language CPD. If you wish to find out more about them and what they offer follow this link to their website, bell-foundation.org.uk. As a local Bell Centre of Expertise, we would be more than happy to discuss your EAL needs with you and develop a bespoke plan to implement their well-regarded 'Language for Results' programme.

We enjoy an excellent track record for providing bespoke programmes of school improvement. This, through our accredited specialist curriculum leaders, supported by both local and national leaders. We are particularly proud of the outstanding achievements of SHIRE which is our "Primary" Initial Teacher Training partner.

We hope you find our website helpful and easy to navigate.
